Obstetrics & Gynecology at Oakland

Obstetrics

Residents in the Obstetrics department are involved with approximately 2800 deliveries per year. Over 95% of these deliveries are performed by the residents.

Other procedures in this department include:

  • Cerclage
  • Cesarean section
  • Lung maturity amniocentesis

Oncology Procedures

  • Radical Hysterectomies
  • Ovarian Cancer
  • Cervical Cancer
  • Uterine cancer
  • Vulvar Cancer

Gynecology

  • Laparoscopic Hysterectomy, myomectomy and large adnexal mass removal
  • Mini-Laparotomy
  • Operative Laparoscopy
  • Abdominal hysterectomy, myomectomy, adnexal mass removal
  • Operative and diagnostic hysteroscopy
  • Tubal Ligation
  • D&C

Didactics

Resident lectures/Protected teaching times

                • Monday afternoons
                • Thursday mornings (1 hour) during GYN rotation
                • Bedside rounds with Dr. Ciaravino on Wednesday and Friday afternoons during GYN rotation
