RESIDENCY PROGRAMS

Rotation Schedule
The first year is designed to give a broad overview of general and subspecialty pediatrics and the solid pediatric foundation needed in order to be prepared to take on a supervisory role as a second year. Call is every 4th night with the exception of one call-free
month and two sick-call months.
4 months - General pediatric ward
2 months - Intensive care nursery
2 months - General pediatric clinic
1 month - Adolescent clinic (Children's Hospital Teen Clinic)
1 month - Behavioral and developmental pediatrics
1 month - Well baby nursery
1 month - Genetics
The second year emphasizes subspecialty training and gives residents the opportunity to explore topics in great depth. Call is every fourth or fifth night with the exception of one call-free month and two sick-call months.
1 month - General pediatrics ward
1 month - Pediatric ICU
1 month - Intensive care nursery
1 month - Pediatric ER
2 months - General pediatric clinic
1 month - Well baby nursery
5 months - Electives
The third year emphasizes teaching and strengthening clinical skills.
Residents are given independence to make decisions regarding management
and are responsible for organizing and running inpatient services
under the supervision of a staff pediatrician. Call is every fourth
or fifth night with the exception of two call-free months and two
sick-call months.
3 months - General pediatric ward
1 month - Intensive care nursery
2 months - General pediatric clinic
1 month - Community medicine
3 months - Electives
1 month - Emergency Room
1 month - Pediatric ICU
