Kaiser
Permanente Oakland is affiliated with the University of California
at San Francisco (UCSF). Our Program Directors, hospitalist attendings,
and many of our clinic physicians hold clinical faculty appointments
at UCSF. First, second, and third year students from both the UCSF
School of Medicine and the UC Berkeley/UCSF School of Medicine (Joint
Medical Program) participate in their Introduction to Clinical Medicine
courses in our Department of Medicine. Third year students may do
their Pediatric Clerkship, and fourth year medical students may
do their Internal Medicine and Pediatric sub-internship at Kaiser
Permanente Oakland.
Residents from UCSF, UCD, St. Mary's Hospital in San Francisco, Children's
Hospital Oakland, and Highland General/Alameda County Hospital do
rotations at our Oakland Campus. These include:

San Francisco
Internal
Medicine Residency Program:
Several of our department staff have clinical faculty appointments
in the UCSF Department of Internal Medicine and participate in various
teaching assignments during the first three years of medical school.
OB/Gyn Residency Program:
The Ob/Gyn Department at Kaiser Permanente, San Francisco has an
affiliation with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
The third year UCSF students rotate through our service doing their
Core Ob/Gyn rotation. Six of our department staff physicians have
clinical faculty appointments in the UCSF Department of Obstetrics
Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences.
As a resident in Kaiser Permanente, San Francisco you will often
interact with residents from University of California, San Francisco
(UCSF), California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC), St. Mary's Hospital,
and Swedish Medical Center. A list of residency programs with rotations

Santa Clara
Kaiser
Permanente Santa Clara has had long-standing affiliation with Stanford
University School of Medicine. Stanford Medical Students begin their
association with Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara late in their second
year, when they participate in the Preparation for Clinical Medicine
course offered through the Department of Medicine. During their
third year many Stanford Medical Students complete core clinical
rotations in Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Surgery
at our facility. Often these students will return during their fourth
year as sub-interns in either Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and
Gynecology, or Emergency Medicine.
As a resident in Santa Clara you will often interact with residents
from Stanford, O'Connor Hospital, and San Mateo County Hospital.

Internal Medicine Residents from Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara
have been participating in an Infectious Disease rotation at Santa
Clara Valley Medical Center for the last three years. The residents
feel it is one of the most interesting and educational opportunities
available in the program because this county hospital serves an
indigent population of such ethnic diversity.
