Q5 Call Schedule
Internal Medicine inpatient services are on a Q5 rotation of Long
Call/Post Long Call/Non Admitting Day/Short Call/Pre Call. Long call
teams admit up to 10 patients and short call teams up to 4 patients
on their respective days. There is a night float system to admit overnight
patients to the long and short call teams the next day and to cover
the hospital. There is no overnight call by the medical teams.
Our system puts an emphasis on resident independence and responsibility
with HBS staff assigned to the teams to enhance patient care. Support
services from nutrition, social services, phlebotomy, physical/occupational
therapy, and patient care coordinators are readily available to physicians
as they manage.
