Medical Student Scholarships

$5000 Medical Student Scholarships
We are proud of Kaiser Permantente's social mission, research, and leadership efforts in helping communities thrive. As part of this mission, we recognize the potential of future physicians and their contributions by offering a total of six $5000 scholarships to fourth year medical students selected for their commitment to and achievement in at least one of two areas:

Scholarship Terms
Scholarship applicants must:
- Be a third year medical student in good academic standing and expect to graduate in Spring 2011.
- Demonstrate commitment and achievement in one or both of the scholarship areas.
- Be interested in seeking a residency in Northern California .
- Be able to participate in a one month clerkship at a Kaiser Permanente facility in Northern California during their fourth year of medical school.
Please note that applicants may apply for both the Northern and Southern California Medical Student Scholarships; however, winners will only be awarded in one region.
Application Instructions
- Complete and submit the online scholarship application, which includes:
- an online essay describing your involvement in one or both of the scholarship areas.
- your curriculum vitae.
- A letter confirming good academic standing from your medical, osteopathic, or podiatric school .
- Two letters of recommendation:
- one from a medical, osteopathic, or podiatric school professor/clinician;
- one from a supervisor or mentor describing your work in one or both of the scholarship areas.

Application Timeline
- Applications are accepted until March 1, 2010.
- Candidates selected for final consideration will be interviewed in May, 2010.
- Scholarship recipients are announced in June 2010.
- Awards will be presented in person at our Annual Residency Open House at our Santa Clara Medical Center on Saturday, September 11, 2010. Travel expenses will be paid by Kaiser Permanente.
