Obstetrics & Gynecology at San Francisco

Welcome

The Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco would like to welcome you to our program website. Our academic program fills four PGY-1 positions each year. Our program is approved by the Residency Review Committee (RRC) for Obstetrics and Gynecology as a four-year structured educational experience. In January 2008 we received our third consecutive 5-year accreditation from the RRC. Our program offers strong clinical experience in the most positive learning environment. Residents have the opportunity to learn and provide care within an organization that is a world-wide leader in health care delivery. Additionally, Kaiser is at the forefront of using electronic systems to improve patient care. A staff physician is on duty in the hospital at all times to provide residents with supervision and immediate consultation. The program has a full-time staff of 28 Obstetrician/Gynecologists with excellent representation in all areas of subspecialization including:

  • Maternal-Fetal Medicine
  • Gynecologic Oncology
  • Reproductive Endocrinology
  • Urogynecologic/Pelvic Floor Surgery
  • Chronic Pelvic Pain & Vulvovaginal Disorders

From Our Program Director:

We are strongly committed to providing graded responsibility for residents as they progress through our program caring for their patients. These patients reflect broadly diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, including those of economic disadvantage. Residents receive the same full support from our organization as the faculty to deliver patient care. The abundant clinical and surgical experience our program provides is augmented by an active academic teaching program. Particular attention is given to a systems-based approach to medicine, interpersonal communication skills and professionalism. This teaching program is designed to foster a sense of intellectual curiosity and to stimulate residents to develop the life long learning habits needed to master the evolving information necessary for providing quality obstetric, gynecology, and primary health care for women.
