Hospice and Palliative Medicine - Los Angeles Medical Center

Program Highlights:

  • Focus on symptom management, improved quality of life, and communication with patients and families to support end-of-life decision making.
  • Hospice and Palliative Medicine Lecture Series and Journal Club that would include the following topics: Pain Management, Legal/Ethical Decision-Making, Spiritual, Cultural Issues, HIV, Cancer, Degenerative Neurological Disease, CVA/Brain Death, Depression/Anxiety, Dyspnea, Research Methodology, Active Dying, Alzheimer's Dementia and many other topics.
  • Participation in an interdisciplinary team and management of patients in a variety of settings, including the home, hospital, nursing home, and clinic.
  • Multi-ethnic population with diverse socio-economic base.
  • Full time research support assistant on-site at LAMC.
  • ACGME accreditated.

  • State Medical Licensure
  • If applicant has rotated through a Kaiser Permanente facility, an optional letter from a Kaiser Permanente attending physician is an added plus.
  • Applicants should have completed or be in the process of completing an ACGME accredited residency in Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Radiation Oncology or Surgery.
