About the Program

The Woodland Hills Family Medicine Residency Program has a tradition of providing top-quality and evidence based education. Our hand-picked faculty is approachable, energetic and enthusiastic with faculty teaching appointments through UCLA. While in a community setting, our main focus is academic excellence through extensive didactic lectures, full spectrum patient care, and one-on-one teaching with attendings.

Strong Academic Training

  • Our UCLA-affiliated residents receive a graduation certificate from both UCLA School of Medicine and Kaiser Permanente
  • Faculty actively involved in academic research and publishing
  • Numerous opportunities for learning: daily noon residency conferences, daily inpatient rounds and lectures on the medicine service, weekly pediatric rounds, monthly medicine grand rounds, monthly chest conference, bi-weekly GI conference, and regular didactic teaching.
  • Faculty have academic appointments at UCLA School of Medicine
  • Medical students rotate with us from UCLA as well as many other medical schools

Excellent Resources and Opportunities

  • All resident offices equipped with computers and high speed printers
  • Up-to-Date provided for residents
  • All computers have access to MD Consult, Ovid, PubMed, KP Clinical Guidelines, and Cochrane
  • Most required rotations (except Free Clinics) are at Kaiser Woodland Hills. Away pediatric rotations at Children’s Hospital ER and Olive View Medical Center (part of the county system) and OB rotation at Cedar Sinai to enhance learning.
  • A single closed drug formulary which includes most medications.
  • Multiple pharmacies on campus and all computer linked with other KP pharmacies
  • Computerized appointment service, messages, medication refills, labs, imaging, transcriptions
  • Opportunities for research (encouraged, but not required) with mentoring, statistical, and editing support
  • Educational stipend and one week available to attend an educational conference in the 3rd year.
